Notes & Policies

Information on shipping, returns, pre-ordering, availability and more.

PAYMENT & RETURNS

Payment is due at the time of placing your order for in-stock species and species I know there are quantities harvestable to fill your order. All tax(es), insurance and tariffs are extra. Returns are not accepted as we are dealing with seeds that are time, and storage sensitive. As soon as they leave our hands these conditions are not within our control. The only valid reason for refund is non receipt of the product...and all of our orders are tracked and insured.

PRE-ORDERING

Pre-ordering gives us the ability to direct our limited labour resources to exactly the species needed. Without pre-ordering, our labour is directed to whatever we find instead of the species you may need. In our site, we label items that we suggest get pre-orderred. In order to reserve your seeds in advance of a harvest for high-demand items, a deposit of at least 25% is required for the amount being requested. If by some chance (i.e. nature does not provide) we are unable to fill your order, you will either be asked if there are other species you need or the balance will be a credit to your account for future seed purchases.

AVAILABILITY

This price list is for the normally harvestable species in a given season between Nova Scotia and Southern Ontario. Not all species will be available in a given season. Normally I have a good scouting report in advance of what will be available before the harvest begins. For example Red maple is normally ready the first of June here — by May 15th I know what the harvest will look like. For sugar maple, it's normally ready after August 20 here and I know what the harvest will look like by July 15th, and so on for each species. At the time of ordering I will do my best to let you know what you can expect.

GUARANTEE

We make no guarantee on any of the product we sell. Most of our product is wild harvested, so it is naturally variable in its germination rates, size and viability. Every necessary step is taken to ensure the seeds are processed and stored properly.

DE-WINGING

We can have these de-winged, only if the season's harvest is large enough to warrant the cost. Maples are NOT de-winged. American Elm are NOT de-winged.

CONIFEROUS SPECIES PRICING NOTEl

For decades now the price for most conifer seeds has been subsidized by various government departments across Canada in order to support and promote the logging sector with all of its jobs. In the last decade, one by one, these harvesting operations have either been cut completely or curtailed. As a result there is a severe conifer seed shortage leaving the industry wondering where the seeds are. We have tried for three years now to get anywhere near the ability to source these seeds at comparable, 'market' prices and failed miserably each time. After having 3 years harvest numbers the pricing reflects what that actual non subsidized market pricing should be. We apologize for the shock this will be, we have decided that unless they are profitable there is no reason for us to harvest them. Also, we will not be accepting pre orders for conifers.

OTHER NOTES, CROPS & SPECIES

Raw product is no longer offered. All product is weighed at the time of packing and shipment There is a natural variation in seed sizes and quanties. Actual seed counts will vary. Our Litres per lb notes are an estimate. There is compaction that happens during packing and shipping for some species, for example: sugar maple.is sold by the litre measured during packing, it will compress some and the volume may seem like less because of this. There are other species out there that we often harvest that are not listed here. Persian silk tree, callery pear, quince, persimmon and many others. Please contact us if there is a species you need or would like that is not listed — we may be able to harvest it for you! — contact us for availability and pricing.
